DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR PROBABILISTIC SEISMIC RISK ASSESSMENT AND LQIEFACTION HAZARD ASSESSMENT FOR THE COMMUNITY AREA AT MYAS – PHASE 2 PROJECT

LIQUEFACTION RISK ASSESSMENT STUDY

The Royal Commission (RC) Yanbu has requested to conduct phase-II of the integrated seismic risk assessment capturing the community area of Yanbu Industrial City. This Task Oder aims to establish a fully integrated seismic and liquefaction risk assessment by obtaining the following set of information

The following tasks have been performed by ER&E:

  • Micro zonation of the Seismic Design Spectra (SDS):

The SDS has been obtained from the Risk-Targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCER) and the site coefficients assessed in Task Order 0086-27.

  • Micro zonation of the Liquefaction Risk Assessment (LRA):

The LRA has been obtained by computing the Liquefaction Severity Number or Liquefaction Potential Index through computation of the Cyclic Stress Ratio (CSR) and the Cyclic Resistance Ratio (CRR). The CRR shall be computed through the survey results obtained in Task Order 0086-27.

  • Map Development

Properties obtained from SDS (such as SDS, SD1) has been plotted in high resolution maps meeting Saudi Building Code standards.

  • Building Damage and Risk Map

Overall community area, color-code, Liquefaction and Seismic Risk have been plotted in high resolution maps.
